U.S. Consul General in São Paulo, Mr. Adam Shub visits Award-winning craft brewery that uses American hops

On October 30, the US Consul General in São Paulo, Mr. Adam Shub, and the ATO Director, Mr. Nicolas Rubio, made a technical visit to Cervejaria Campinas, a craft brewery established in the city of the same name. Founded in 2017, the company produces 12 types of beer, such as American Amber Ale, American Wheat Ale, American Hop Lager, American IPA, American Double IPA and Session IPA. Several of its beers are brewed using American methods and American hops in the composition. The visit was conducted by the owner, Mr. Ladir Silva.

The craft beer market has driven US exports of ingredients like hops to Brazil. New craft breweries open daily in the country – according to Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, they jumped from 240 in 2013 to 870 in 2018. With the quality and variety of American hops, the trend is that imports will continue to grow in the coming years. In 2018, the United States exported $ 9 million in hops to Brazil, a 63 percent increase over the previous year.
