Chef Thomas Keller and the U.S. team won the top award at the 30th edition of Bocuse d'Or, considered the "Oscar of World of Gastronomy". The competition is held every two years in Lyon, France. Competing against representatives of 24 countries – Brazil among them –Keller, of the restaurant Per Se in New York City, led the U.S. team to gold. Participants had to prepare Poulet de Bresse aux Écrevisses (Bresse Chicken with Crayfish), a Lyonnaise classic, and a vegan plate. That is the first time the United States has won the prestigious award, created by the renowned French Chef Paul Bocuse. The prize, worth 20,000 euros, was announced on January 25th.
